The Wizard of Oz - Chapter 10: The Guardian of the Gate

Updated: Oct 27

The Wizard of Oz: The Guardian of the Gate 🧙‍♂️💚✨

Welcome, kids and parents, to another magical adventure from our children’s storytime podcast! 🎧✨ Today, we're taking a journey through Chapter 10 of The Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy and her friends finally reach the dazzling Emerald City! 🌿🏰 Join us as they meet the mysterious Guardian of the Gate and prepare to encounter the Great Wizard. Will their wishes be granted? Let’s find out! 🤔🌈

The Journey Continues 🚶‍♀️💛🦁

After escaping the sleepy poppy fields, Dorothy, Toto, the Tin Woodman, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion continue on the yellow brick road. 🌻🧱 The road leads them through a beautiful green countryside filled with green houses and friendly, though a bit shy, people. Even the fences are green! 💚✨

As they travel, they become excited about the glowing green sky ahead. "That must be the Emerald City!" says Dorothy, and the friends can hardly wait. 🌆👓

A Big Green Welcome 🌟💚👓

At last, they reach the grand gates of the Emerald City! The gates are studded with sparkling emeralds that dazzle Dorothy and her friends. 💎✨ But before they can enter, they meet the Guardian of the Gates—a little man all in green, who holds a big box of special green glasses. He explains that everyone in the Emerald City must wear these glasses because the city's brightness is too much for regular eyes! 🌞👓

Once fitted with their green spectacles, Dorothy and her friends step through the gates and get their first glimpse of the shining streets of Oz’s magical city! 🌟🏰

Lessons from the Emerald City 🌿🧠❤️🦁

This chapter teaches us that sometimes, even when a place is as beautiful as the Emerald City, you might still need a little help (or a pair of special glasses!) to see things clearly. 🤓💡 It also reminds us that appearances aren’t always what they seem—everyone believes that the Great Oz is powerful, but no one has ever really seen him! 🌌👀

What Did We Learn? 🌱📚

  • Kindness and Gratitude: The Guardian of the Gates is polite and helps Dorothy and her friends even though he’s surprised by their request to see Oz.

  • Perseverance Pays Off: Dorothy and her friends never give up, even when they hear that no one has seen Oz in years. They keep going! 🚶‍♀️🧡

  • Curiosity Can Lead to Adventures: The friends are curious about Oz and want to meet him despite the mystery around him. Curiosity can open the door to new experiences and friends! 🌟🤔
